Protest at Marquette

Some may have heard of a priest named Fr. James Martin, a priest who openly supports positions directly contrary to Catholic Church teaching. He openly advocates the acceptance of homosexual sin.

On Monday, February 5, 2018, the Catholic university of Marquette in Milwaukee hosted a public meeting on campus, via Skype. An America Needs Fatima member in the area found out that Fr. Martin was going to give a presentation titled Truth to Reconciling: Building a Bridge, with topics such as Catholic and Gay: Accepting My Sexuality. Thankfully, there were some faithful Catholics who showed up to protest this affront to the Faith by a Catholic college.

A supporter of ours from the area helped to organize the rally and said:

“There were ten of us there. We were approached by two men who work at Marquette. Most people didn’t react much but there were a few that thanked us for being there. We stayed for an hour and then left. We were also handing out the flyers. I couldn't believe how many people were trying to ignore us. There was also a young man there wanting to report on why we were there—he seemed to be on ‘our side’ and was pretty friendly. I think he was a student there as well.
When we were done praying, the man who joined us who worked at Marquette thanked us again for being there. He said how much it was needed and that there is rarely any opposition there. There were two other men from pro-life Wisconsin that joined us as well.

One of the Marquette students had been following us for at least five blocks and he followed us to our vehicle. He was also recording us on his phone. He stayed at a distance but then asked us if he could join our ‘cult.’ He laughed and said that there was no heaven or hell but he supposed that we were there to tell homosexuals that they are all going to hell. One of our friends we were driving with gave him one of the handouts. He took it and was going on his way as he kept making statements about not being any heaven or hell—that there was nothing after this life. I’m not sure what his purpose was for doing that.”

Because of people like this supporter in the area we were able to coordinate a protest against this talk that holds a position directly contrary to the Catholic Church’s teachings. If you hear of anything in your area that is an affront to the Catholic faith please let us know so that we can see if we can put a protest together against it.  You can contact us at psrcnewsletter@gmail.com or you can call us at (866) 584-6012. We faithful Catholics need to do what this supporter of ours in WI did and stand up for the faith in our area.

Message from the PSRC Director

Dear Public Square Rosary Rally Captains,

I hope that you are enjoying our blog!

On Saturday, March 17th, the feast of St. Patrick, Saint Joseph Traditional Marriage Rosary Rallies will take place all across America. Last year 3,110 rallies were held to promote and to defend, with the help of Saint Joseph, God’s marriage between one man and one woman.

If you have not yet signed up to organize a public square rosary rally for that date you can do so at www.AmericaNeedsFatima.org. What better way to offer prayer and penance during the holy season of Lent. The institution of marriage is the most fundamental institution of society.

Close behind marriage is the family; however, without marriages that are holy and pleasing to God, families will not achieve God’s plan. Many of the millions of abortions that occur happen as a result of marriages that do not please God.

When spouses do not view marriage as a sacred institution, they become self-centered and will raise children, when they have them, to have the same attitudes. A society imbued with the culture of death aims to tear apart the sound principles good parents try to instill in their children. A human life then becomes disposable when it interferes with a hedonistic lifestyle.

Holding a traditional marriage rally will be a tremendous help to defend and pray for the restoration of traditional marriage. Your rally will give hope to those who pass by who also believe in traditional marriage and will offer prayers and reparation for the restoration of traditional marriage in America.

I hope you benefit from this nblog. We welcome your questions, comments, photos and suggestions.

During January, America Needs Fatima participated in the annual March for Life in Washington D.C. Members of America Needs Fatima carried a banner with perhaps your name and 24,449 other names of other members of America Needs Fatima.

During the March for Life we always have the pleasure of meeting rally captains at this most important effort in defense of innocent human life. America Needs Fatima participated in state-wide and even local pro-life rallies. Some rally captains brought their banners with them.

The words expressed on the Public Square Rosary Rally banner are universal in their importance and can be exhibited at any occasion.     —Francis
